Jake and I are over joyed to announce that we are expecting our 1st child in November!

We look forward to many exciting months ahead and to sharing it with our Families and Friends! I will get better at posting more updates and photos! I have our 1st appointment next month and I look forward to sharing all the news!

Jake was home for R and R in February and enjoyed being back in the real world! We are finally on the back side of this deployment and he is scheduled to be home in the Early Fall. I have posted pictures on my Myspace that he took in Iraq as well as many many other pictures! Wow it has been a long time since we posted anything on our blog...sorry! We have just been trying to spend every min with each other. Jake left for Iraq on wednesday. He will spend a month or so in Kuwait getting further training and then off to Iraq north of Baghdad. Thats all I can really tell everyone. There is so much information that has to be kept private in order to keep all the troops safe. Jake is doing really good so far. He landed there yesterday at 12 noon my time. Kuwait is 11 hours ahead of Alaska... its funny cause when I am awake he is asleep! I have been able to talk to him quite a bit by using our text messages! When he landed it was still 93 degrees outside and it was mid-night there! He said it is hot and dusty! I plan on updating the blog a lot more since it is the easiest way to fill in everyone at once! As for me... I am trying to be ok. Its amazing how empty you feel when the person you love leaves. Thank goodness the kids I baby sit have been here otherwise I would be sitting in bed crying my eyes out! They keep me busy and entertained which helps out a lot! I plan on coming home in November for a month and half. That way I'll be home for all the Holidays! Then Jake will be taking R&R in March which is our half way point. The dogs are doing good! Penny turned 2 on Tuesday which was also our 2 nd wedding anniversary! I still can't believe that we have been married 2 years already! Gizzy is just being Gizzy! A crazy little fur ball... she is so funny though its hard to be sad when they are around! Winter is just around the conner up here! The weather forecast for the weekend shows snow through next week. Its dropping down in the 20's at night and all the beautiful leaves are falling off the trees. We are also losing day light so fast and the Northern Lights are starting to make their first apperances of the winter! They are so beautiful to watch I wish my camera took better photos though! Well I better get on with my day... the kids don't have school today and they keep asking me what we are going to do today! Its funny how quickly I have became "mom" to these kiddos but I love it! It's good practice for when Jake and I have children! Sorry again for not posting anything in a long time! I get better... Promise!

We Moved!!

Hey everyone!
After months of waiting and waiting we finally moved into On Post housing! We had given our notice in our old house and we were supposed to be moved out by the 30th of Jan but on the 29th we still had no news on when we could move into on post housing. Luckly they were able to give us a house and we moved in on the 30th! Our new house is WONDERFUL! It is a 3 bedroom, 3 storie house. The basement is a emty room with only the washer and dryer. The 2nd Floor is the Kitchen, Pantry, Dinning Room and Living Room. The 3rd floor has the bathroom and all 3 bedrooms. In our old house we had ZERO closets and in our new house we have 7 closets!!!! Its Heaven! We are so close to everything now it takes only mins to get into the main part of town and less then 5 min for Jake to get to work! Not only do we have this wonderful new home I started a new job this week! I am working for Camp Fire in the their after and before school program! I love my new job and can't wait till the summer program! Well thats all for right now but I am posting a bunch of new photos of the house! Enjoy!

Hey everyone!

Well Im sure everyone knows but we are coming home in 21 days! We were un able to take leave at christmas so jake and I figured Thanksgiving would do just fine! We are doing good. Just trying to stay warm! We still have about a 1/2 foot of snow of the ground which is weird! We are getting a lot better at driving in the snow. Jake and I are looking forward to the warm temps at home! Well thats about it for right now! We hope to see everyone when we get home!

Hello Everyone!

Well winter has finaly come to Fairbanks! Over the weekend we got about 7 1/2 inches of snow! It is so beautiful to look at but way to cold to go outside in! Our night time tempatures have been in like the single digits and it wont be long till its in the negatives! There isn't much new with us. Jake has been doing a lot of training lately and keeping real busy. In June there is a possibilty that he will be heading the Irvin, CA for some special training. Then possibily a deployment in Fall of '08. So they are keeping him real busy. I have been doing good. I just waiting to start getting phone calls from the school disttrict for sub jobs. We have made some great new friends the last few months! We have a great group of army and non army friends that we have game night with! Its been really fun! Penny is doing good! Although she doesn't like the cold weather. Being that she is so small we cant take her outside for very long any more. There is a Dog gym in town that we are going to take her too so she can still run around and get exercise! Well thats about all for right now. We miss everyone so much and can't wait to see everyone!

The Colors have changed so fast! All our weeds are brown and dead!!! All the locals say that winter starts in the next couple weeks and the extreme cold starts in October! In the mornings it has been in low 40's but it heats up to the high 60's in the afternoon! We have also seen the northern lights for the first time! Hopefully we will get some pictures to post! The lights have been to dim to capture on our camera! So keep checking back for new pictures!

Hi everyone! Sorry we haven't posted anything in awhile! We have had a busy week or so. I got a new job! Yippee! I finally got bored at home and was ready to get back out there! Im working at the Safeway about 3 miles from our house! I have odd hours though I work from 4-midnight so I dont get to see Jake till I get home but he is ready to go to bed! Luckily I have 2 days off a week so we can at least see each other! Im still waiting on the School district to process my app so I can get on the sub list. Jake has been really busy. He has had a minor knee ingury so he can't do any running, walking, marches, etc. till the end of August. He is also taking a Study prep class for the ASVAB so he can get a better score. Not to much new with his unit. He is just busy working! And then there is Penny! She is good... She will be getting fixed next month. We are gonna start taking her once a week to a doggie day care to play! We are finally starting to lose some day light. We are down to 18 1/2 hours of day light. Its nice cause at night we finally sleep! We have had more rainy days lately so I think our weather is starting to change. Its hard to believe that winter is less then a month away. I keep thinking how weird it will be that there might be snow on my Birthday! That has never happened at home! We have to make an appointment to get the truck winterized! There goes $300! Well thats the latest from Fairbanks! We hope everyone at home is doing good. We miss you all so much.

Hi Everyone!
Last night was the perfect evening for a bbq! Jake made Burger's and Hot dogs... Yummy! It's hard to bbq when there are so many mosquittos! Earlier in the spring they were big fat female mosquitto's but now they are the annoying small babies. Also in the last week huge flying bettles have started to show up. They are about the size of a quater. Gross! Yesterday it was 85 degrees in town! It is usually about 10 degree's cooler at home which is nice. Today we are going to the Midnight Sun Festival so we are both looking forward to that! I'm especially excited for monday... My mom is coming to spend a week with us! So check back in a week or so and check out some fun photos! Yesterday was the begining of Jake's Summer break! He doesn't go back till June 30th then has the 3rd and 4th off! We are enjoying Alaska life but really miss Seattle. Hopefully Thanksgiving will come fast! Well I'd better get going. Check back tomorrow for pictures from the Midnight Sun Festival!

Hello Everyone!

Well today has been a rainy day! It reminds me of back home! It hasn't stopped raining since last night. Jake and I went into town last night and there was thunder and lightening. Today jake is doing some training on post. It's like a re-view of what they learned in Basic Training. The had to crawl through the dirt and mud, save the battle buddies "life" and reviewing policys. He had to get up really early to report because someone got a DUI. It seems almost every week someone in his unit is got a DUI. Not to much new with me. I go in on monday for my EMG test. Then hopefully I will be able to schudule my surgery for when my mom comes. I'm really enjoying my days with the kids. Yesterday we went to a free movie at the Cinema and then went grocery shopping! It sure is hard to get anything done with two kids running around though! Over the next 3 weeks they are only going to come once a week. So it will be nice to have a little break! We dont have much planned for this weekend. Tomorrow we have a BBQ at Jakes unit for all the families so that should be fun. But thats about it from Alaska. We miss everyone so much.

Our Trip the famous Santa Claus House! North Pole, AK

We are so lucky to live in North Pole because any day of the week we can go see santa! Last night Jake and I went to the Santa Claus House (about3 miles from our house). I couldn't believe how big it was! I could have spent hours wondering through and looking at everything. There are thousands of decorations, Alaska gifts and of course Santa. Wednesday through Sunday you can visit Santa and have your photo taken! Just outside there are 2 of his Reindeer which are beautiful animals. We can't wait till Christmas to go back and visit agian!

Hi everyone! Today was a beautiful day! Nothing but blue sky almost the whole day! Jake hung up our new American Flag today! It looks great. I start my new "job" tomorrow morning so I'm really excited about that! This is a short work week for jake! He has a 4 day weekend so he is really looking forward to some much needed rest! Hello Everyone! We hope everyone is doing well! Here is a new picture of Jake and I. We took this picture tonight at Midnight!!! I can't believe it's so light out! We are really enjoying being in Alaska! We have finally adjusted to our new home! We have had a busy week! I start my new job on Monday! I will be baby sitting two kids monday-friday! I'm really excited! Jake had another busy week! He had a physcial training test tuesday morning and did great. His unit took a trip to the gas chamber on thursday but didn't go in. Penny is doing good! She really enjoys our afternoon walks! The weather has been great sunny and warm everyday this week. It is really starting to look like summer around here, lots of green trees, green grass and wild flowers. Today was exciting I was on post and saw 3 moose just eating grass! Then on my way back home I saw another cow moose about 2 blocks from our house! They sure are beautiful animals! Well thats all for today! We miss everyone and send hugs-n-kisses!

Jake drove most of the way from Prince George to Fairbanks. He traded off driving the U-Hual truck with his dad and riding with me our truck. He did an amazing job!

Most of the road looked like this. Although most of the road was paved there we several spots were there was just loose gravel. For most of our trip we were the only people on the road except for the occasional truck driver (going way to fast).

For about 30 miles we saw signs warning drivers about free range Buffalo and We finally found the herd along side the highway. This Buffalo was about 15 feet from the drivers side of the truck! There was about 10 total all but this one was laying in the snow bank. It was really funny cause once penny looked up and saw the buffalo she started barking like crazy!

This is the inside of the Toad Rive Lodge gift shop and diner. All over the ceiling are hundreds of hats from all over the world. There isn't an empty spot. It was really neat to look up and see hats from back home! We even found a Seattle Mariners hat!

When we left Seattle our truck was brand new and shinny clean! Well by the time we arrived at Toad River our truck was a mess. In the back ground is the Canadian Rockies.

Once we left Dawson City we saw so many wild life signs but this was the most graphic! We never did see any sheep along the way but in the snow along the high way you could see tons of little hoof prints.. We did see several moose, deer, eagles, and caraboo.

On our third day we begun traveling through the Northern Rockies! The weather and road conditions changed a lot. At some spots there was so much compact snow and ice we couldn't see the road.

On our second day we arrived in the famous city of Dawson Creek. It is the offical start of the Alaska Highway! We got to spend a lot of time here exploring. It was freezing outside though. With the wind chill it was 11 degrees outside! brrrr.

Penny did very good on our trip! She slept most of the day but when we finally called it a day she was very hyper! We were exhuasted but she was ready to play!

Here is Jake at our first stop on our Big Trip! We left Seattle at 9am and got to Prince George B.C at a little after Mid night. We didn't see much of Prince George we left early the next morning. All we saw was the inside of the Denny's at our hotel! Exciting huh!

Hello everyone! Welcome to our first Blog! As everyone knows we moved to Fairbanks, AK last month. Jake has finished his first month at Fort Wainwright and loves it. I have been busy unpacking and decorating our new home! Penny seems to enjoy alaska. She made a new buddy... He is the Black lab next door and his name is Jake! Small world! The weather has been pretty good since we got here. It's hard to believe that locals are already getting ready for the next winter. The one big thing we have had to get used to is how light out it stays at night. Last night it never got dark. We are going to buy room darkening shades this weekend because it is hard to sleep when at 1am and it is still light out! Another things that is way different then home is the size of the Mosquittos. Right now they are all the females and they are the size of nickles. We go outside and are attacked by mosquittos! It's funny because locals call the mosquitto the state bird of alaska! Two days ago we saw moose right by our house! It was really neat to see her standing right by the side of the road. One local told me that Moose, Black Bears and Wolves live all around us. So maybe one day we will have black bears in our back yard! We can't leave penny outside alone because she is so small! But she loves to run in our fenced front yard. She chases the bugs and barks for no reason! Yesterday we had our cable TV and internet installed! It was very exciting for jake to watch the Mariner game! Well Im going get going now.
